Questions people actually ask

Real answers about how Tihna works, what to expect, and whether it's right for you.

The basics

A Tihna programme is a structured four-week sequence of stereo-headphone listening sessions. Choose nature soundscapes or Pure Tone, view the frequency information and track completed sessions. Linked studies are background reading; they did not test Tihna or establish a particular outcome.
Tihna may suit someone who wants a defined four-week headphone-listening routine, eleven nature soundscapes or Pure Tone, and visible session progress. Read the feature-and-fit comparison of Tihna, Brain.fm and Endel and compare the current official product descriptions to choose the listening style you prefer. These features do not establish that Tihna is more effective than another app.
Sleep Program (6 Hz theta, then 3 Hz delta): 28 sessions over 4 weeks, on a 294 Hz carrier. The closest study is a 2024 proof-of-concept cross-over in Sleep (Oxford) where 10 adults fell asleep in 6.1 minutes versus 12.5 with silence. Ten people is a pilot, not proof, and it used a different beat and carrier to ours.

Calm Program (9 Hz alpha, then 6 Hz theta): 28 sessions on a 350 Hz carrier. These are the frequencies a 2026 PLOS ONE study actually tested across 219 people: 6 Hz raised calmness and focus (Hedges g > 0.84), 9 Hz raised calmness (g > 0.72). We changed the program to match the tested frequencies rather than keep numbers nobody had tested.

Focus Program (40 Hz gamma): 28 sessions on a 494 Hz carrier, held at 40 Hz for all four weeks. A 2025 Scientific Reports study of 64 people confirmed EEG entrainment at a 40 Hz beat and better attention scores when a background bed was playing. Evidence on gamma and memory specifically is mixed.

Morning Program (15 Hz, then 16 Hz beta): 28 sessions on a 392 Hz carrier. 15 Hz is the one beta rate that improved working-memory accuracy in a 2016 PLOS ONE study, and 16 Hz entrainment was confirmed in 2025 in Scientific Reports. Be aware of the counter-evidence: a 2023 systematic review found that none of the studies using beta-range stimulation showed entrainment. Treat Morning as a listening routine, not a proven alertness intervention.

Using the app

Yes. Use stereo headphones that preserve separate left and right channels. Tihna checks the listening route before playback. Speaker playback and compatibility with a particular sleep-headphone model are not promised.
Morning sessions are 15 minutes, Focus sessions are 25 minutes, and Calm and Sleep sessions are 20 minutes. Quick Calm is five minutes. Check the session shown in the app before starting.
You can return to the programme according to the schedule shown in the app. Tihna records completed sessions and supports optional reminders, but it does not guarantee that a particular schedule will produce a result.
Follow the safety guidance in the app and listen at a comfortable volume. Stop if uncomfortable. Tihna is a wellness app, not a medical treatment, and does not provide individual medical advice. Read the medical disclaimer before use.
Tihna does not guarantee when—or whether—you will notice a change. The four-week structure is a listening routine, not a promise of a clinical or neurological effect.
Use the programme and enrolment options shown in your installed app. Progress helps you return to your listening routine; completing a programme does not guarantee a health outcome.
